Then and Now

LM Radio has a rich history that dates back to its inception as “Lourenço Marques Radio” in 1936, broadcasting via shortwave to South Africa and Rhodesia. However, in 1975, the station was shut down by the government of the newly independent Mozambique. Fast forward to the present day, LM Radio SA was granted a Commercial Broadcasting Licence by Icasa and went On Air in July of 2017.

Today, LM Radio SA is a commercial radio station based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, and Maputo, Mozambique. Broadcasting on 702AM/MW in Gauteng, LM Radio SA is also available via DSTV Channel 821, OpenViewHD 602, Web Streaming, and the LM Radio SA App. Additionally, it broadcasts on 87.8 FM in Maputo and surrounding areas.

With a focus on delivering the happy sounds of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, LM Radio SA plays hit after hit, bringing back memories of earlier years for its dedicated audience. The station boasts an audience in South Africa’s three major provinces: Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal, and Western Cape.

LM Radio’s unique format, featuring more music and less talk, coupled with its nostalgia-driven history, attracts listeners from all walks of life.
